On February 28th 1980 at 3:51 A.M an angel was born on this earth. The world was blessed with the arrival of Jeremy Paul Hulsey. Weighing in at 9 lbs 4 ozs. and 21 inches long, the J.P. we all knew and loved had made his much awaited appearance.
It was recognizable early on that J.P. was a special child. Even as an infant, he possessed the ability to make everyone who came in contact with him smile. Throughout his life, J.P. never lost that gift. Even when his life seemed at an all time low, he put his pains and troubles aside to listen to someone else in need. He was always there to offer a kind word, a pat on the back, or just the sunshine of his smile. No one ever knew how deeply J.P. suffered inside with his own demons. While his life wasnt always full of joyous moments, my son made the best of everything that life would allow for as long as he could!
J.P. accomlished alot in his short 25 years of life. He graduated school from Latta High School in Ada, Oklahoma. While trying to decide what to do with his future, he worked various jobs but none of them really seemed to fill his need. The one thing he always seemed to find solace in was music. Determined to follow a dream, J.P. bought a guitar at a local pawn shop, and taught himself how to play. While never able to read a note of music, he played soley by ear and had a unique voice that gripped the attention of all who heard him. J.P. was also a fluent writer and often would pass his time jotting down words to his next work of art. While he knew that music wasnt going to pave his way, he chose to join the United States Air Force the morning of the disastrous 9/11 terror! It was while watching all the news events on T.V that fateful morning that this brave young man made the decision to serve and protect his country! I was never a more proud mother than that day! Though it broke my heart having to take my son to drop him off at the Air port to fly off for basic training I knew he was pursuing his hearts mission. Successfully completing basic training than came Technical training. J.P. had scored so high on his asvap test that he could pick from any chosen career field in the military, he chose to follow in his grandpa's footsteps. He chose aircraft maintnenace and repair.
While attending tech school in pensacola florida, JP married his wife, and together they began life together in Charleston, South Carolina. There they had their first and what would be my sons only child, a daughter. Another precious angel born into this world! JP loved his daughter with a love so strong and deep. I thought my son had achieved the greatest accomplishment ever when he became a father!
Sadly, not quite four years into his daughter's life, JP suffered from clinical depression and refused to seek medical attention for this serious illness. Left untreated for a year, my son decided after two unsuccessful attempts to end the pain and haunting thoughts that plagued him that his third attempt would be his last, sadly, it was. Though I know that he is now looking down and watching his daughter and the rest of his family, and that his pain and suffering here on earth has ended, he has left those of us who love him to carry on with the emptiness in our hearts that his absence has left us with. There is no greater a love than that of a mother, and no heart more broken than that same heart who loses her child!
May you rest in peace my Angel! My mind is filled with thoughts of you, and i await the day that we will see each other again face to face! Watch over your sister and your brother and that precious lil angel of your own! We live on in honor of your memory. I love you with an undying love "my son"! Forever in my heart!
